#CrowdfundingFridays: ‘Atomic Robo and the Vengeful Dead,’ ‘Mister Howl,’ and ‘My Neighbor Has a Red Curtain’

Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support)!

Project #1: Atomic Robo and the Vengeful Dead: Hardcover Edition

What it’s about: Atomic Robo is an online comic about the adventures of a robot who is also a scientist. Each volume is a self-contained story or collection of stories about the incredible life of Atomic Robo. Atomic Robo was created by Nikola Tesla way back in the ‘20s. Since then Robo’s tussled with air pirates, mad scientists, a dinosaur who is also a mad scientist, vampires, and at one point cowboys. Atomic Robo and the Vengeful Dead is the latest chapter in Robo’s exciting life. Now he’s…sort of a university administrator? But for a sci-fi action school to train the next next generation of ACTION SCIENTISTS including his sorta-secret robot son with the rebooted intelligence core from the Advanced Learning Algorithm Network that nearly killed all life on Earth, and framed Atomic Robo for it, and got Tesladyne shut down by the secret fascist science police, which indirectly threatened all life on Earth (again), and got a bunch of his comrades probably killed and definitely hunted as terrorists for a few years. But he’s doing much better now. Meanwhile! Robo and Tesladyne have been working with various scientific super groups around the globe to establish a global odic shield to protect the Earth from extra-dimensional shenanigans and it will definitely not malfunction in a big catastrophic way why would you even think that? We’ve been making fancy hardcover editions of Atomic Robo with help from you and Kickstarter since 2014. Today, we’d like to Kickstart a fancy hardcover edition of our newest book, Atomic Robo and the Vengeful Dead.

Project #2: Mister Howl

What it’s about
: 2022 – A book containing old photos of film footage and notes is unearthed in a private lockup, forgotten for over twenty years. As the reader turns the pages, a story soon becomes apparent. A young boy, confined to his bedroom, bearing witness to a horrific haunting in an adjacent city block. The boy’s only means of recording the supernatural occurrences, his camcorder and photographs. But the medium is far too basic to record the incidents clearly. The horror lying almost concealed between the shadows and the scanlines. Now, after 20 years, you’re invited to bear witness to these cursed frames too.  Mister Howl will be a 100 (+) page, found-footage illustrated novel / art book, following a transcript of Jay’s documenting of the haunting as observed from his bedroom window. The reader is thrown into the centre of this haunting mystery, giving a whole new angle to following a traditional ghost story.

Project #3: My Neighbor Has a Red Curtain

What it’s about
: In 2019, creator Samantha H wrote a poem called ‘My Neighbor Has a Red Curtain,’ which soon became the idea for a full-length story featuring the original characters. Per Samantha, “I knew despite their full story, I still wanted to complete the minicomic. It took three years, but I finally sat down and the minicomic was brought to life.” My Neighbor Has a Red Curtain is a condensed retelling of events by Erie Lockhart, a criminology student, as she recalls the summers she met and befriended florist/gardener serial killer Redford Wild in the early ’70s.
