#CrowdfundingFridays: ‘Romanis Magicae,’ ‘Crashlands,’ and ‘Fairytales from Mars’

Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support)!

Project #1: Romanis Magicae

What it’s about: The Romanis Magicae prequel comic is a 22-page story that serves as a special prequel issue to an upcoming title of the same name that will be published by Heavy Metal’s Virus imprint. The comic comes from the minds of writer Matthew Blair (Kaijus and Cowboys) and celebrated British artist Paul Peart Smith (2000 AD, Judge Dredd).

Project #2: CRASHLANDS: A One-Shot Science Fiction Comedy!

What it’s about
: CRASHLANDS is a science fiction comedy inspired by the heart and humor of Futurama and the over-the-top action and visuals of Mad Max. Written by Gabe Cheng and with art by Julia Pratt, this short story one-shot is about leaping before you look. It deals with the frustration of trying but never succeeding, and what you have to do when blasting a caravan of murderous wasteland marauders in your flying saucer doesn’t solve the problem either. All 13 pages of CRASHLANDS are completely finished! Which means the comic is ready to print and ship as soon as this campaign ends.

Project #3: Fairytales from Mars

What it’s about
: Fairytales from Mars is a comic anthology collecting the fables, folktales, and, of course, fairytales from the colonies dotting the red planet. It is speculative mythology at its finest and we’ve challenged creators to imagine the kind of stories that might emerge when humanity finally starts calling Mars its home. Early children’s stories were morality tales designed to warn against the dangers of their environment, impart a lesson, or explain the unexplainable. This book is a collection of tales that any Martian parent could use to send their little ones off to dreamland – the only plane connecting Earth and Mars. Featuring over 20 creators telling at least 10 out-of-this-world stories, successful funding will help us create a beautiful, full-color science fiction anthology and showcase a talented team that spans the globe.
