Human Comics 1Last year, I had the pleasure of interviewing comic book creator Gabe Smith of Human Comics regarding his successful Kickstarter campaign for Human #1, the first installment of his sci-fi graphic novel series.  With the overwhelming support of the campaign's backers, Smith was able to self-publish the first book of the series and even acquired international distribution through Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc.  Now, Smith has returned to Kickstarter with the hopes of raising the necessary capital to produce and publish the second installment of Human and to finance the marketing, distribution, and convention costs of both books.

FANBOY COMICS TO LAUNCH ‘THE PREVIEWS PARTY PODCAST’

LOS ANGELES, CA – March 1, 2013 – Fanboy Comics (FBC) is proud to announce the latest addition to its podcast lineup with The PREVIEWS Party Podcast!

Goldtiger"It's the most iconic '60s comic strip that never existed!" The Fanboy Comics staff recently learned of an intriguing, new Kickstarter campaign that aims to collect the never-before-seen comic strips for Goldtiger, a '60s series that was shrouded in controversy due to its racy content and troubled creators.  But .  . . here's the thing.  The entire premise for the book - the troubled creators, the controversial content, and its journey to (never) be published - is fictional.

Seduction bannerThe following is an interview with Max Allan Collins, author of the recently released book Seduction of the Innocent, as well as the bestseller Road to Perdition.  To celebrate the novel's release, Fanboy Comics Managing Editor Barbra Dillon chatted with Collins about his inspiration for Seduction of the Innocent, what draws him to mystery and detective tales, and his feelings on the stigma that is still attached to comic books.

This interview was conducted on February 26, 2013.

Brave New World logoYou're invited to join Fanboy Comics for a graphic novel signing on Wednesday, March 6th, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Brave New World Comics in Newhall, CA!

Writers and FBC co-founders Bryant Dillon and Sam Rhodes will be on hand at the LA-area comic shop to sign copies of Fanboy Comics‘ graphic novels, Identity Thief and Something Animal.  Fans who stop by the store will have a chance to pick up their very own signed copies and to purchase the official Fanboy Comics t-shirt, so that they can show their geek pride in style.

Skin Crawling ComicsThe following is an interview with the comic book writer/artist team of Carl Boehm and Laura Bearl, who will be contributing their short story, "The Appetite," to the upcoming horror-themed anthology Skin Crawling Comics.  In this interview, Fanboy Comics Managing Editor Barbra Dillon chats with Boehm and Bearl about the inspiration behind their horror short, what the horror genre means to them, and where readers can find other examples of their work in advance of the anthology's release.

This interview was conducted on February 18, 2013.

Nick CardyDC Comics fans will easily know the name Nick Cardy.  The prolific illustrator, designer, and comic book artist has been drawing for his entire life, with contributions to Apocalypse Now, Batman, Superman, Aquaman, and the Teen Titans to name a few.  While fans best know Cardy for his decades-long association with DC Comics, readers will soon be able to enjoy his most profound, personal, and never-before-seen creations in Nick Cardy: The Artist at War.
