Canada's first superheroine is on her way to making a big comeback, but she needs your help to succeed!  In 1941, the Canadian government banned the import of US-made luxury goods, leaving comic book fans wanting more when it came to caped crusaders.  Luckily, Canadian publishers rushed to fill the void, creating hundreds of original comic book characters. Nelvana of the Northern Lights, created by Adrian Dingle, was the best-known of this era, responsible for selling millions of comic books across the country.  Unfortunately, after World War II, none of these comic books were seen again, which is why comic book historians Hope Nicholson and Rachel Richey have launched a Kickstarter campaign to reprint Nelvana of the Northern Lights in its entirety!

When Fanboy Comics is not providing you with the latest in geek news and entertainment, the FBC staff and I hope to offer our readers a myriad of opportunities to give back to the community. We love reading comics, watching movies, and playing video games, but we are never happier than when we are able to help others in need. With Geeks Care: How You Can Help, FBC will provide you a variety of causes that would greatly appreciate your time.

Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, launched its second annual "Sound Off for Autism Speaks” earlier this week. This exciting fundraising effort gives fans the opportunity to order a limited number of custom-recorded messages from geek celebrities like Adam West, Bryan Cranston, Cher, Jack Black, Jim Parsons, Mark Hamill, Michael Dorn, Peter Dinklage, Vin Scully, and Zachary Quinto in return for a $299 donation.
