Raise your clan medallion if you are seriously missing the quips of Geralt as he chats with his trusty stead, Roach.  As we pine after the people’s Witcher, Dark Horse Books has seen the shiny beacon of reflected light from all our collective Witcher emblems, responding to our call to action with an official graphic novel adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story, “A Grain of Truth.”  For dedicated fans of the books, many will remember this tale appeared as the third story in Sapkowski’s collection, The Last Wish, originally published in 1993 (Polish version) and much later in an English version in 2007. And for fans of the Netflix series, this story features in the first episode of the second season.

Move over Yon, Mu, Chi, and Michael, there’s a new feline in town!  Musubi is an adorable tuxedo kitten who strayed from his mother and siblings and is found by a security guard at Riko’s place of employment.  As each employee offers up a reason for not taking the kitten, Riko, a single 20-something woman, finds herself saying she’ll take the stray feline home.

Comic book publisher Zenescope has spent over a decade expanding and exploring children's stories through their own series, Grimm Fairy Tales.  This series has launched several spin-offs, such as Neverland in 2010.  At their website, Zenescope describes their Neverland as “once a magical paradise until it fell under the rule of the evil creature known only as Pan.  It has now become a world that haunts children’s nightmares.”

I was introduced to independent publisher Mad Cave Studios five years ago when they released a new digital comic book series, Battlecats.  I was drawn in by the fantasy adventure tale of a squad of warrior cats who had been sent on a heroic journey on behalf of their king and where their success or failure would impact the future of all.  The setup in that first issues reminded me of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, and with each subsequent issue of the first story arc, Battlecats established and delivered the promised epic tale glimpsed in the debut issue.

Executive producer and analytical mastermind Daniel J. Glenn welcomed San Diego Comic-Con’s virtual Comic-Con@Home audience to the Friday, July 24, panel, The Mandalorian and His Many Gadgets.  Joining Glenn as subject matter experts were Dr. Michael Dennin from Science of Superman, Star Wars Tech, and the speculative television series Ancient Aliens, and bio-engineer Ben Siepser.  

San Diego Comic-Con International’s virtual Comic-Con@Home program of panel streams on their YouTube Channel included a fan favorite back for another year: “The Psychology of Star Trek vs. Star Wars”  Brian Ward (The Arkham Sessions) starts the panel by holding up a Star Trek tricorder and a Star Wars blaster, proving he was qualified to be an objective moderator.  Two clinical psychologists will discuss Star Trek and Star Wars through a psychological lens, and two special guests who have worked on these powerhouse IPs will bring subject matter experience and knowledge to the discussion.  The objective: to provide a venue for the audience to observe a healthy and fun debate regarding two beloved franchises.
