‘Back to the Future: Citizen Brown #1’ – Advance Comic Book Review

Just when you thought the future of the Back to the Future comic books couldn’t get any better, well, they just did!

This month, IDW Publishing begins a whole new five-part series in the ever-expanding universe of timelines between our beloved adventurers, Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown. But Back to the Future: Citizen Brown isn’t just any old storyline . . . on the contrary, this new series is based on the popular video game from Telltale Games. How cool is that?!

In this series, Marty finds himself going all the way back to 1931, thanks to the DeLorean’s Automatic Retrieval System. (Long story. Don’t ask…) But, when Marty has to help Doc get out of yet another mess—one that involves his grandfather, Arthur McFly—anything could go wrong! And, boy, does it go wrong . . .

Kudos to writer Erik Burnham and Bob Gale for their adaptation of what’s already turning out to be an exiting story. It takes a lot of work to keep the integrity of something that’s already been done before, and you can tell our authors do more than just respect the work of this video game. And with stunning artwork and colors from Alan Robinson and Maria Santaolalla, respectively, this five-part series is in excellent hands!

Now, why do I have the feeling that after all this trouble, one of our favorite time-traveling heroes may start to cease to exist and disappear!? I guess we have to wait to find out . . .

Until next month,
