‘TMNT: Casey & April #3’ – Advance Comic Book Review

Well, that was weird. Symbolic. But, weird.

Naturally, I’m talking about the newest issue for the latest TMNT miniseries, Casey & April.  If you recall from the ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles storyline, April O’Neil has discovered an old scroll that could have something to do with the past, present, and future of our favorite pizza-loving heroes. Thus, April has set out on an adventure out west with Casey Jones.  But, after April and Casey separate in search for different clues, Casey is quick to realize that they have both been tricked and led astray.  If only he can make it in time to save April before it’s too late . . .

This month, I won’t give away if Casey makes it in time to save April, but I will say that both of our protagonists go through some very weird mind trips led by the mysterious Rat King.  We also learn more information about who this evil villain may represent exactly, so, obviously, this month’s issue is a must read!

As always, I must give credit where credit is due, and with Casey & April, most of that credit goes to Mariko Tamaki for an extremely intriguing storyline.  I honestly have been captivated since the first issue.  The other credit, of course, goes to Irene Koh for giving us such beautiful artwork.  I’ve never known a comic book couple to look as stunning as the Casey and April that Koh has depicted for us.  And, this month, I also want to recognize Brittany Peer for her gorgeous colors, particularly with an issue that took place so heavily in the mind.  Kudos to a wonderful team all around!

For now, it looks like we’ll all have to wait until next month to see what happens to our favorite comic book couple!

Until then . . .
