‘TMNT: Casey & April #2’ – Advance Comic Book Review

So, did you read it? No. Not 50 Shades of Grey. That’s old news! I’m talking about TMNT: Casey & April! Issue #2 is now available, and we couldn’t have asked for a better middle to our story of this 4-part comic book series.

If you recall from the ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle storyline, April O’Neil has discovered an old scroll that could give answers to her friends’ past. More importantly, Shredder and his Foot clan would probably do anything to get their hands on this ancient artifact, so April has set out with her boyfriend, Casey Jones, to learn more. But, with a mysterious Rat King on the rise, April and Casey may run up against more trouble than they bargained for . . .

This month, April and Casey hit a rough patch in their relationship, so they decide to split up to cover more ground in their search for clues. But, before Casey realizes their clues have led them astray, it may be too late before April realizes she’s caught in a trap. A rat trap, that is!

As I stated last month, Mariko Tamaki has a truly fantastic story on his hands! I was so captivated by this month’s issue that I had barely started reading before I knew I had finished. I’m still curious to know who this mysterious Rat King is, but I have full faith in Irene Koh’s artwork. We’ve seen glimpses thus far, but when we do get to see more of this creature? I’m sure he’ll be as scary as he is beautiful. I’ve never seen artwork quite as detailed as Koh’s work, so bravo to a team well paired!

In the meantime, I’ll be waiting on pins and needles to find out what happens to Mrs. O’Neil next month.

Until then . . .
