‘TMNT Ongoing #45:’ Comic Book Review

I’m sure you all know by now that one of our own has passed. Alas, I’m talking about those pizza-loving heroes-in-a-half-shell. I won’t say which Turtle died at the end of Issue #44, in case you’ve been stuck in a well for the past month, but the ongoing comic book series for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has become dark. Very dark . . .

Now, the good guys weren’t the only ones who walked away battered in the last issue. Shredder was hurt pretty badly by General Krang, whose evil technodrome plans were also foiled by our heroes. So, our crime stoppers shared a giant victory, though small in comparison to their loss.

In this month’s Issue #45, however, Fugitoid tries to bring our fallen hero back to life using materials from Krang’s hideout and the knowledge of Harold the scientist. We also discover that Shredder was saved by Baxter Stockman, a villain more evil than we may know . . .

What are you doing to us, Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz? Stop toying with our emotions! When will the sadness end? I mean, your story is quite beautiful, and this issue was a wonderful tribute to our fallen hero, but we want to know what happens! At least artist Mateus Santolouco gives us stunning artwork at each turn of the page, particularly of our hero’s “dreams.”

There’s not much else to say except that if you haven’t been reading this month’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle issue, at least it had a better ending than the last . . .

Until next month,
#TurtlePower!
