‘TMNT: Turtles in Time #4’ – Comic Book Review

Wow. That was deep. I’m talking “reasons-why-I-love-the-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-series” deep. And, if you don’t know how deep that love goes, then think of Michelangelo’s favorite style of pizza. That’s right, I’m talking deep-dish kind of deep. It doesn’t get any deeper than that!

But, if you’re still confused, I just finished reading the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time #4 comic book, and if you haven’t guessed already, I was blown away! I was lucky enough to review 2 of the 4 comics in this series, but the life lessons I learned in both will remain close to my heart for all time.

“Sometimes, the universe takes you to where you need to be and teaches you the lessons you need to learn.”  Yup. And, that’s only a simple of Paul Allor’s beautiful script. But, when one of our heroes meets his future self, there are many more life lessons to learn.

I also really enjoyed Dan Duncan’s stunning artwork.  His drawings were very different from the last issue I read in this series, and I liked that I could appreciate both styles.  Not to mention Ronda Pattison who really brought each panel to life with her elegant choice of colors.  Job well done to the entire team for the last comic book in this series.  You all added depth to what was already deep enough.

All kidding aside, I was sad to see this series end.  Despite the fact that each issue resolved itself quickly (and, at first, I thought having our turtles travel through time sounded ridiculous—because, you know, mutant ninja turtles isn’t ridiculous enough as is . . . ), it was Michelangelo who helped me understand when he said: “Doesn’t make sense? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, dude, but none of this ever makes sense!”  And, he’s right.  Sometimes, the world isn’t supposed to make sense.  But, isn’t that the beauty of it?  Life gives us the opportunity to figure it out.

So, if there’s one thing the Turtles in Time comic book series has taught me, it’s that “turtle power” has a deeper meaning than I ever understood before . . .
