The art is colorful and lively, with wonderful drawings that leap off the page, just as they do in the video game. There are plenty of concepts to keep the reader busy, from zombies and plants all the way to game and level design. Even good old Crazy Dave makes an appearance, much to the chagrin of the zombies. Some of the art is done in full color, while some is in sepia or black and white, even basic sketches. The incredible amount of time and thought that went into creating the game is absolutely amazing to see compiled into one book.
Every page of this book is filled with not only art and facts about game development, but hilarious comments from the zombies with their classic manner of speech and wrought with misspellings (‘cause zombies can’t spell!), making this so much more than just an art book. The personality of the zombies is priceless fun. This layout really lends itself to the book, so that it is less of a walk through of the world of Plants vs. Zombies and more of a comical journey, complete with a troupe of zombie tour guides. Even if you haven’t played the game, this concept book definitely has appeal to any connoisseur of adorable and humorous art.
