bells-of-st-johns-doctor-who-poster-247x350At WonderCon this year, I had the pleasure of attending a screening of the latest Doctor Who episode, “The Bells of Saint John.”  Being able to see the episode on the big screen with a throng of fellow fans was quite an enjoyable experience.

DW S7E6Christmas day, and it can mean only one thing—a magical, old man travels from far away to give us a wonderful, new present. This year's Doctor Who Christmas episode, “The Snowmen,” saw some changes for the last of the Time Lords.

Invincible 99Here we are in the middle of “The Death of Everyone.” Invincible #99 gives us part two of the story that will conclude next month with Issue #100. In the previous issue, Dinosaurus triggered a massive global flood in order to wipe out the world's coastal cities. In this issue, the Guardians of the Globe are stretched to the limit as they concentrate on disaster relief in the afflicted cities while Invincible is left to deal with Dinosaurus.

Flash Gordon V2There is nothing quite like Depression-era serials.  While they may have outdated views and storytelling techniques have changed, they can always be counted on to capture your imagination. One of the most famous sci-fi heroes of this period is Flash Gordon, and Titan Books has put out a collection of his adventures titled The Complete Flash Gordon Library - The Tyrant of Mongo Volume 2.

Les MiserablesA two-and-a-half-hour opera set during the French Revolution may not strike everyone as a great movie, but those naysayers are fools. Les Misérables is easily one of the best movies of the year.

Doctor Who 3Amy decides that “her boys” should spend some quality time together in order to bond. This leaves Rory and the Doctor stuck together on an adventure of their own. The boys immediately decide that they would just rather use their time machine to jump ahead to the future to pick up Amy and pretend they grew closer together.

TMNT 16Slash, the snapping turtle mutated and designed by Stockgen to capture the quartet of heroes, has tracked down the boys. This issue begins with the ensuing confrontation.

Tarzan-Centennial-HardcoverEdgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan has always interested me; however, I have not had the opportunity to get invested in the world's mythology. Now, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the fabled ape-man, Tarzan: The Centennial Celebration, written by Scott Tracy Griffin, has been released by Titan Books. This stunning book chronicles the history of Tarzan and his creator. Whether you are an expert who cannot get enough or a novice like myself looking for a gateway into a new world, this book provides you with everything you are looking for.

StarTrek DoctorWho 06-CvrAThe crew of the Enterprise has allied with the Borg?! Who could have mediated such a volatile negotiation? That genius is none other than our verbose Doctor.

Now that we have seen the aftermath of the ultimate “Who would win in a fight” scenario, this issue begins with the Borg pleading for Captain Picard's help before the Cybermen invade the Borg home world.
