Greetings, tributes and victors!
Fanboy Comics had the good fortune to be invited (Special thanks to Marsia Powers of Whedonopolis and Mark Sheppard for “greasing the wheels” with President Snow to get us inside!) to a special preview and reception for the official auction of the actual costumes from The Hunger Games film adaptation.
Let me just start off by saying that if you haven’t picked up the indie comic Penguins vs Possums yet, then like poor, mopey Jon Snow, you officially “know nothing.” When a book is this good, one assumes that creators Sebastian Kadlecik (writer/artist), John Bring (writer/artist), and Lindsay Calhoon Bring (writer/editor) forged this issue, like Mjölnir, in the heart of a dying star. When this issue hit the presses, Odin surely decreed that Penguins vs. Possums #4 had "no equal as a story of destruction or as a tale to entertain." (Sorry, for all of the Thor references. The God of Thunder pays me for the PR.)

As Halloween is fast approaching, the Fanboy Comics staff and contributors decided that there was no better way to celebrate this horrifically haunting holiday than by sharing our favorite scary stories! Be they movies, TV shows, video games, novels, or anything other form of entertainment, members of the FBC crew will be sharing their "scariest" stories each day leading up to Halloween. We hope that you will enjoy this sneak peek into the terrors that frighten Fanboy Comics!
I’m a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. That said, and given that when I watched the first series, my geeky teenage life had already led to me becoming a seasoned fan of the R-rated horror genre. I have to admit that despite all the things that made the show great, it wasn’t what I considered “scary.” Whedon and crew did pull it off once or twice, though, and the best example of how unsettling and frightening Buffy could be in the right hands is surely the haunting and silent episode, "Hush."
The zombie craze seems to have infected every genre across the board, but fans just can't seem to satisfy that hunger for new tales of the walking dead. If this describes you, my fellow comic book sniffer, than have no fear, because your next fix is here. If you have ever wondered what it would be like if zombies overran a twisted version of Candyland, then the High Fructose Zombies comic series is sure to be something you’ll want to sink your teeth into!

It’s Halloween and that means it’s time to start thinking scary. For someone who considers himself a horror fan, it’s sometimes hard for me to find films that truly frighten me, but when a film does, I remember it forever. 28 Days Later, the movie which brought us running zombies and caused the zombie craze to begin, is one of those films. 28 Days Later is an extremely terrifying film which will shake you of your zombie oversaturation blahs and remind you how truly scary the genre can be.

The First Kingdom is a historical benchmark in the history of the comic book and graphic novel industry. Created by Jack Katz, an American comic book artist and writer whose work spans both the Golden and Silver Ages of comics, The First Kingdom was an extremely ambitious and personal project for Katz and advanced both the concept of the graphic novel and the legitimacy of the idea that complex, high-quality, high-concept stories can be told through the sequential art medium. The first volume of Titan’s reissue of the epic series, The First Kingdom: Volume 1 - The Birth of Tundran, shows that the publisher is delivering a re-release worthy of Katz’s epic and cutting-edge saga.
