‘Bart Simpson #100:’ Advance Comic Book Review

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and truer words were never spoken than in the case of Bongo Comics’ 100th issue of Bart Simpson.  Set to release on Wednesday, February 24th, Bart Simpson #100 will bring to a close the much-loved comic series after a successful, 15-year run.  Filled with all of the classic Bart Simpson catch phrases, alter egos, and familiar Springfield faces, the 100th issue is a fantastic tribute to the character, the Simpsons world, and the incredible work of the talented creators at Bongo Comics.

The 100th issue of the series will be extra special for both new readers and those loyal to the series, as it is a double-sized issue loaded with the usual zany adventures of Bart, Homer, Mr. Burns, and the Springfield gang.  Written by Nathan Kane and Ian Boothby, the comic follows Bart in a time-traveling adventure where he must defeat Mr. Burns . . . and Future Mr. Burns!  Will Bart stop everyone’s favorite megalomaniacal nuclear plant owner before he enslaves the town and blows it to SMITHERS-eens?  (I had to do it.)  The only way to know is to pick up the final issue of the series!

In addition to the fantastically clever writing, applause must be given to the artistic team – Nina Matsumoto (pencils), Andrew Pepoy (inks), Art Villanueva (colors), and Karen Bates (letters) – who bring their A-game to the series’ final issue.  All of the Springfield favorites who appear in the issue pop off the page and come to live, just as they did in the animated series.  Hats off to the entire creative team for giving Bart and company a sendoff of the highest caliber.

Bart Simpson #100 will be available in comic book stores on Wednesday, February 24th.  Be sure to pick up your copy soon, as it’s sure to be a best seller!
