The Indiegogo Report: ‘Mystery Weekend Package’

Remember when you were a kid and your parents would go out for the night with their friends to a “Murder Mystery” party?  Designed as a fun and easy-to-run party idea for adults, these shindigs gave folks an opportunity to get away from the kids for a night, get dressed up as wacky, Clue-like stock character, and pretend to solve a mystery in the course of about 2 hours.  (Who am I kidding? Our parents were just closeted role-players, paving the way for our RPG futures!)  Well, the creators of the independent film, Mystery Weekend Package, have taken this party concept and adapted it into a comedy/horror/mystery screenplay that is sure to delight viewers!  In order to raise the necessary funds for the film’s production costs, the creators have launched an Indiegogo campaign, and they hope that you will consider donating to their project.

Mystery Weekend Package tells the story of 3 couples who go on a weekend getaway that features a murder mystery game. Unfortunately for the couples, after someone winds up dead, they are forced to solve an actual murder.

Creators Paul Laier, Harry Valentine, and Andrew Duvall are no strangers to filmmaking, as they have produced a number of short films in the past, including the horror/comedy, Zombie Cops, which was a selection at last year’s Zedfest.  This, however, will be the creators’ first foray into feature filmmaking, and given the high cost of producing a full-length film, they have turned to crowdfunding for support.

Laier, Valentine, and Duvall already have the script locked in, and the cast and crew have already been hired; however, the creators need the capital to cover equipment rentals, costumes, props, makeup, transportation, a fake raccoon, and everything else required to make this movie a success.

Be sure to visit the Mystery Weekend Package Indiegogo page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include digital downloads of the film before its release, official Mystery Weekend Package t-shirts, Associate Producer credit, a chance to have a character named after you, and more!

As of today, November 5, there are only 39 days left in the campaign, so be sure to donate soon!
