On June 25, 2015, at 9 p.m., Love and a .38 will be donating their Luna Gypsy Pre Bass to Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood at Universal CityWalk's memorabilia collection, which boasts nearly 80,000 pieces worldwide. In honor of the donation, Hard Rock will also host a charity raffle and serve specialty cocktails to benefit local charity, Adopt the Arts, an organization that brings together well-known artists, public figures, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and the general public to save the arts in America’s public schools. Sponsors of the memorabilia donation and charity raffle will include Stage Ninja Cables, Ashdown Amps, Hipshot Products, Graphtech Labs, Loxx USA, Boulder Creek Guitars, D’Addario Strings, Pick Grips, Multi Sonus Audio, VooDoo Labs, Grover Allman Guitar Picks, Mono Cases, and Hercules Stands. Following the auction, Love and a .38 will perform for the crowd.
Adopt the Arts (ATA) was initiated in response to continuous budget cuts in Arts education throughout the US, and especially in LAUSD. Legendary drummer Matt Sorum and mother-of-two Abby Berman co-founded ATA with the idea that we all share a responsibility to invest in our future and to ensure that our children are prepared to thrive in the demanding global environment of the 21st Century. With so many studies clearly indicating a critical developmental relationship between art, music education, and academic achievement, the case for supporting Arts instruction in elementary school is compelling.
