The Kickstarter Report: ‘Reach’ Graphic Novel

With each installment of Fanboy Comics’ “Kickstarter Report” series, the FBC staff hopes to provide independent creators with a larger platform to showcase their talents to a new audience. When a number of talented creators join together to bring their creative vision to life, the results of their shared skills become even more incredible and exciting to imagine.  For that reason, I am excited to highlight the Kickstarter campaign for Reach, a graphic novel adventure that consists of three standalone stories from seven writers and artists, all focusing on three generations of a family determined to hunt a mythical plant that blooms only once a year, always in a different place.

Spanning three different time periods, Reach beginsin the time of King Richard, continues to the Sengoku Period and its samurai, and eventually arrives in the American West.  The graphic novel’s three distinct stories, each self-contained as a standalone tale, connects over the centuries to manufacture a single narrative of warning to all those who would overextend their . . . reach.

The creative team behind Reach contains extraordinarily talented independent writers and artists with various comics and graphic novels already under their belts.  The team includes Joe Pezzula (Writer – Where the Witches Lurk, In Sanity, AZ), Scott Irwin (Artist – Samsara, RUE), Michael Drace Fountain (Writer – In Sanity, AZ, RUE), Chris Burkheart (Artist – In Sanity, AZ, O.D.D. Chronicles), James Ninness (Writer – PLAY & Aurora Borealis, Samsara), Mike Vasquez (Artist – Adventure Time and Godzilla trading cards), and Ben Glibert (Colorer/Letterer – Samsara, In Sanity, AZ).  With all three of the stories written and their artwork nearly complete, a successful Kickstarter campaign for Reach will guarantee the printing of this exciting graphic novel.

Be sure to visit Reach‘s Kickstarter page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include digital and printed copies of the graphic novel, exclusive prints by guest artists Livio Ramondelli, Joel Gomez, Robert Dizon, and Vincent Kukua, and more! The Kickstarter campaign will close on Tuesday, June 30th, so be sure to donate soon!
