The Steam Engines of Oz is a family-friendly, Steampunk-infused story set 100 years after the events of The Wizard of Oz. Created by Sean Patrick O'Reilly (CLOCKWORK GIRL, KADE, EZRA, PIXIES) and Erik W. Hendrix (DEADLY HARVEST, THE EVIL TREE, THE BOOK, CHAMPIONS OF THE WILD WEIRD WEST), the story follows young Victoria Wright, who works beneath the Emerald City, making sure the vast machines below the city keep running. She soon learns that her actions, which seem so small, have much larger implications on the world around her. Published by Arcana, The Steam Engines of Oz was originally released as a Free Comic Book Day preview, and three full issues followed due to popular demand. The issues feature art from Yannis Roumboulias (DEADLY HARVEST) and colors from Chandran (INTRINSIC). Now, the creators are hoping to compile a graphic novel that will continue the Steam Engines story.
If successfully funded, the donations collected will be put towards paying the art team of the graphic novel, as well as producing and shipping the backer rewards. Additional stretch goals will be added throughout the campaign, so stay tuned for updates. In addition, readers can see an interview with co-creator Erik W. Hendrix in the below video!
Be sure to visit The Steam Engines of Oz Kickstarter page, and don't forget to check out the backer rewards, which include a mystery grab bag of comics from Arcana, Steam Engines t-shirts, advertising space within the book, and the chance to become a character within the story! These are only a handful of the amazing rewards available and more will be added throughout the campaign. The campaign closes on Tuesday, June 4, so be sure to donate soon!
