Tread Perilously – ‘Grey’s Anatomy: My Favorite Mistake’

Tread Perilously is a podcast in which hosts Erik Amaya and author Justin Robinson watch the “worst” episodes of popular TV shows, attempting to determine if they would continue to watch the series based on the most off-key moments.

This Week: Grey’s Anatomy‘s “My Favorite Mistake”

Tread Perilously celebrates television powerhouse Shonda Rhimes with Shondjuary — four weeks of her longest-running shows! First up: Grey’s Anatomy and an episode called “My Favorite Mistake.”

While several doctors attempt to become chief of surgery, Dr. Mark Sloan uses the memory of Dr. Meredith Grey’s dead mother to score points with the board. Dr. Izzie Stevens deals with the repercussions of her ill-considered night with Dr. George O’Malley. Dr. Christina Yang tries to deal with details of her impending marriage and the return of her ex. Dr. Callie Torres’s father appears to get George’s signature on a post-nuptual contract. Also, Twlight’s Elizabeth Reaser appears as a women without a face.

Special Review Unit’s Charlie Wright takes the title of “Chief of Medicine” to help guide Justin and Erik through their first visit to Shondaland. Erik falls in love with Patrick Dempsey’s hair and forgets Kate Walsh was in The Umbrella Academy. Justin gets lost in all the sexy on display. Erik praises Eric Dane’s “lovable douche energy.” Charlie suggests the decline of Netflix’s DVD-by-mail service made the US Postal Service vulnerable. She also charts the musical progression of Grey’s Anatomy as a series. Erik and Charlie reminisce about long-lost facilities near USC. Erik and Justin blame free soda refills as the underlying reason for their doughiness, and Charlie learns Justin has a problem with depictions of surgery.
