As a special feature of The Fanbase Weekly podcast, the Fanbase Feature focuses on and celebrates a specific element of geek culture.

In this Fanbase Feature, The Fanbase Weekly co-host Bryant Dillon is joined by special guests Erica Harrell (writer – Fanbase Press’ Nuclear Power, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: Michonne) and Erik Amaya (co-host, Tread Perilously) to participate in a thorough discussion regarding Escape from New York (1981) in light of the film’s 40th anniversary, with topics including the film’s depiction of the post-apocalyptic, how the John Carpenter flick was inspired by the events of Watergate, what makes Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken an iconic genre character, and more. (Beware: SPOILERS for Escape from New York abound in this panel discussion!)

This month’s sponsor: This episode of The Fanbase Weekly Podcast is sponsored by the comic book series, Boots and Pup. Have you ever wondered if there is life outside of this planet? Well, I’ve got good news and bad news… there is life, but it’s pretty dumb. Boots and Pup is a webcomic about life on another planet… a planet populated by jerks. Two specifically: Boots, a high-strung worry-wort, and Pup, a care-free vagabond. Together, they engage in funny banter, odd-ball adventures, and reflect on pop culture, office jobs, and what it takes to get each other’s goat. Check them out at bootsandpup.com or follow them on social media (@bootsandpup) for new webcomics updated weekly. Your IQ will definitely suffer.
