The premise of Junkyard Angels is pretty cool. The story takes place at the outbreak of a robotic infection that turns people into homicidal machines. The story centers on Jason, who is still reeling from tragedy as his world collapses around him. The focus is clearly on the personal relationships even as the story shifts into apocalypse mode. This focus is the best part of the comic, even with such a cool premise.
Video games should be fun. Superheroes should be fun. Video games where you play as superheroes should be the most fun. I can report that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes delivers. There is just something special about swinging through the city as Spider-Man or soaring between skyscrapers as Iron Man. Obviously, punching everyone around as The Incredible Hulk or The Thing is wonderful.
Based on George Lucas’ original rough draft of Star Wars, this comic reminds us how crazy the man could be. Yes, the story works its way to the scene where Luke Skywalker, who was renamed Obi-Wan Kenobi in later drafts, is riding on an armored emu. So, let’s take the awesome insanity as a given.
The third arc in Mind MGMT concludes in this issue, and we see more of the collateral damage from the current conflict. Lyme, the Eraser, and Meru collide in the middle of a neighborhood that has turned into an apocalyptic nightmare because of the Management. While earlier storylines have showed the damage that rogue psychics can cause, this issue exposes the consequences of the current struggle over the future of the agency.
The Stanley Parable, by Galactic Café, is one of the most unusual games I have ever played. On the one hand, it is a surreal indictment of the office drone environment. On the other hand, it is a funny and effective parody of the notion of choice in games.
I have played several different board game to video game translations, and none works as well as Pandemic does on the iPad. Fans of the excellent Tabletop series might recognize the game from Season 1. For the rest of you, Pandemic is a game about the brave men and women from the CDC as they fight to stop four diseases from ravishing the world. This is a cooperative game for four players that rewards teamwork and thinking outside the box.
You will lose. It’s ok, but you will lose.

I keep falling into this trap. I keep thinking that I know where The Star Wars is going, and I keep being surprised. The comic is based on George Lucas’ first draft of Star Wars, before he stripped out the craziest ideas. (This review will go much smoother if we all agree that Star Wars is super crazy, and that is one of the reasons that we like it.) So, if the movie counts as sane, how awesomely bonkers was the first draft? It was the best thing ever.

I have never had less fun with a video game. Ever. I should say that I typically do not enjoy horror games, and, with Halloween approaching, I thought I would give a scary PC game a try. So, like an idiot, I chose one that is widely accepted as one of the scariest games ever released.
I know how hard it is to find time to play video games. Jobs, partners, kids, sleep; these things can eat up your valuable time. If only there was a game that compressed the entire experience down to a half an hour or less.
Mind MGMT has freaking done it again. In a seemingly effortless move, Matt Kindt keeps bringing a tremendous emotional component to a series about a morally questionable underground psychic army and the morally questionable group that is opposing them. I won’t reveal a darned thing here, but the latest issue is a real standout.
