Dear Fanboy Comics Readers:

With the biggest pop culture event of the year - San Diego Comic-Con - just one day away, the top comic book publishers in the industry have made a very exciting announcement regarding their plans for digital comic development.  Having recently partnered with digital studio Madefire, publishers including IDW, Top Cow, and BOOM! Studios have decided to launch their bestselling titles as motion books.

The digital landscape of comic books is changing rapidly, and this new development will undoubtedly provide groundbreaking and exciting new ways for readers to enjoy their favorite stories.

The creators behind Madefire will be at SDCC this week (Booth #4902, 4904) to provide interested readers with more information, and Fanboy Comics will be there to bring you with the latest developments.  Until then, please see Madefire's official press release below for further details.

Greetings, Fanboy Comics Readers!

The choice to cast Johnny Depp as Tonto in the new Lone Ranger flick has been controversial since its announcement, with many feeling that Depp's portrayal of the Native American character was borderline racist. Attacking the issue with wit and humor, Los Angeles-based sketch comedy group New Feelings Time has just released their latest parody video, and it's sure to deliver some laughs. Check it out below, Kemosabe.

Hello there. Most of you know me in some capacity. I’ve been in this business for 20+ years and certainly been involved in a lot of crazy things in that time.  Last year I launched a book called Think Tank with my friend and artist Rahsan Ekedal.  We’re both very passionate about the book. WE LOVE DOING IT!  And, I hope that enthusiasm for what we’re doing carries through to the final read.

I’ve been very straight up with everyone about this book; we’ll keep doing it if it finds a large enough audience to sustain it.  We’ve committed through issue #20 at this point, which is 16 more than I thought we’d get to, but we’d both like to do the book for a long, long time.

Why am I writing this now?  Because this week the second trade paperback of Think Tank is in stores along with the 2nd printing of the first one.  I’m not too proud to ask for your help.

Fanboy Comics is always excited to support indie publishers, which is why I am thrilled to inform you that Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter creator Russell Nohelty will be premiering a limited edition run of his new graphic novel, Katrina Hates the Dead, at San Diego Comic-Con next week!

Published by Allegory, the graphic novel will be a tongue-in-cheek tale of surviving the apocalypse.  For full details regarding the graphic novel and its release at SDCC, please see the official press release below.

With several projects already in the works this year, production company MOnsterworks66 continues to impress with the announcement of a new project called Our Zombie Mother, which will be released in collaboration with Patrick Griffin of Griffin Studios LA and Committed Artists Entertainment.  Our Zombie Mother is a new online series that will feature two children who wake up to find their mother has turned into a zombie!  The series is currently in post-production, and it will target both children and adults.

For full details regarding the upcoming web series, please see Our Zombie Mother's official press release below.

Great news, Buffy fans!

Juliet Landau and James Marsters, known far and wide for their portrayals of Drusilla and Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, are reuniting this September for the world premiere of The Bells of West 87th, a new stage comedy by Elin Hampton.  Fans in the Los Angeles, CA, area would do well to stay tuned for ticket availability, as the performance - which premieres on September 7, 2013 - will undoubtedly sell out fast!

For more details regarding the show, please see the full press release below.

FANBOY COMICS UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE

LOS ANGELES, CA – July 8, 2013 – Fanboy Comics (FBC) is proud to unveil its newly improved website, www.fanboycomics.net, with an updated look and enhanced features.

Founded in early 2010, Fanboy Comics is an online conglomerate of geek media, providing its readers with daily reviews, interviews, and podcasts that span the pop culture spectrum.  In 2011, FBC added independent comic book publisher to its credits, when it published its first graphic novel, Something Animal.  The company’s second graphic novel, Identity Thief, was released in September 2012.

With the new website launch, the FBC staff hopes to provide greater site maneuverability for their readers and stronger promotional tools for creators who seek an open and positive venue for their finished product to be viewed, reviewed, and discussed.
