On June 15, 2022, Eisner Award-nominated Fanbase Press will launch its first foray into Graphic Medicine with Ripple Effects, a five-issue comic book series which explores life as a superhero with an invisible disability.  In an effort to help readers better empathize with and understand the difficulties of navigating invisible disabilities, Fanbase Press is excited to announce that every issue of the series will feature "Unseen Ripples" - an essay series written by individuals with invisible disabilities who relate Ripple Effects' events to their own lived experience. 

Fanbase Press is honored to share that it has been named a 2022 Eisner Award nominee in the "Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism" category. This marks the second Eisner Award nomination for the comic book publisher and geek culture website, with the first nomination announced in 2018 for the bilingual comic book series, Quince. 

The awesome folks at CA-based comic book retailer Collector’s Paradise are extending their Free Comic Book Day festivities into the whole month of May for Free Comic Book MAY, and they have generously invited the Fanbase Press team to join them - alongside talented creators David Pepose (writer - Savage Avengers) and Darin Henry (writer - The Unbeatable Blue Baron) - for a signing at their North Hollywood, CA, location on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Fanbase Press is thrilled to announce that its alternate history series, Nuclear Power, has been honored with a silver medal win for the 2022 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards) in the Graphic Novel category.  The IPPY Awards aim to bring increased recognition to the thousands of exemplary independent, university, and self-published titles published each year.

For the first time in over two years, award-winning publisher Fanbase Press will be making its return to the comics convention circuit!  The Fanbase Press team is thrilled to be exhibiting at the Latinx Comic Arts Festival (LCAF), alongside a number of other talented independent creators from across the US! Taking place on Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Modesto Junior College's West Campus in Modesto, CA, the event is the Central Valley’s celebration of Latinx creators and friends. This FREE comics convention features cartoonists, writers, artists, animators, storyboard artists, and more. Even better, it’s an ALL-AGES, FAMILY FRIENDLY event open to the community! Each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., we will be meeting fans at the Fanbase Press booth, where you can purchase all of our comics and graphic novels, including the 2020 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Winner Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition which features a study guide by LCAF Founding Director Dr. Theresa Rojas!

Nuclear Power is a darkly poignant alternate history of the Cuban Missile Crisis, depicting a United States under authoritarian control which subjects women to mandatory pregnancy screenings and forced abortions. The series was written by Desirée Proctor & Erica Harrell (Marvel's Voices: Comunidades, Deadshot: Mercy, DC Comics New Talent Workshop) and illustrated by Lynne Yoshii (Marvel’s Voices: Identity, DC’s Gotham Garage, DC Comics New Talent Workshop).

Award-winning publisher Fanbase Press, in association with Eisner Award-winning writer/professor Frederick Luis Aldama (Jacob & Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities at UT Austin) and Emmy Award-winning writer/producer/director Peter Murrieta [Wizards of Waverly Place (Disney Channel), Mr. Iglesias (Netflix), Rafael Garcia: Henchman (comic book with Starburns)], is launching an annual digital comic book anthology to highlight the works of emerging Latinx comic book creators and help pave the way for up-and-coming sequential artists.
