The contributions of these individuals have enriched and influenced our society and culture for generations, giving voice to myriad ideas, perspectives, experiences, and sources of imagination. Fanbase Press is thrilled to announce that the upcoming trade paperback for its six-issue series, Nuclear Power, will release on October 19, 2021, in recognition of the 59th anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis, featuring education-focused bonus content, including a foreword by Dr. Katie Monnin (writer - Teaching Graphic Novels, Diamond Bookshelf's "Katie's Korner") and a study guide by Dr. Stephen J.C. Andes (Associate Professor of History - Louisiana State University / writer - Zorro's Shadow).  Nuclear Power is a darkly poignant alternate history of the Cuban Missile Crisis written by Desirée Proctor & Erica Harrell (Deadshot: Mercy, 2017 DC Comics New Talent Workshop) and illustrated by Lynne Yoshii (DC's Gotham Garage, 2017 DC Comics New Talent Workshop).  Furthering the series' efforts to stress the tenets of democratic society, demand equity for its citizens, and encourage healthy and informed civic participation, the foreword and study guide serve to complement the important and timely themes of Nuclear Power. The bonus content will also offer readers, educators, and librarians the opportunity to utilize the collected Nuclear Power trade paperback as an educational resource for examining challenging topics like disinformation and xenophobia, providing opportunities for greater discussion and understanding.

While in-person conventions are still on the horizon, Fanbase Press is bringing the excitement of conventions to YOU with the announcement of its first annual (Virtual) Celebrating Fandoms Week!  Taking place from Monday, July 12, through Friday, July 16, 2021, and sponsored by Blue Fox Comics, the virtual event will honor Fanbase Press' mission of "Celebrating Fandoms and Creating New Ones!" by offering FREE star-studded panels each day on everything from the Alien franchise and Batman vs. Predaor to Graphic Medicine and the repercussions of disinformation, as well as a new project announcement from Fanbase Press co-founders Barbra and Bryant Dillon.  Featured panelists will include Dave Gibbons (Watchmen, Batman vs. Predator), Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Marvel's Alien), Barbara Randall Kesel (Alien 3, Watchmen), and many more!  Throughout the virtual event, all panels and announcement will be available via Fanbase Press' official YouTube channel.  Plus, as always, all of our comics, graphic novels, and other geeky merchandise will be available for sale through our Online Store and digitally on ComiXology, Comics Plus, and Hoopla for those missing the "con experience" of taking home great, new titles from the show!
