Earlier this year, Eisner Award-nominated publisher Fanbase Press launched its first foray into Graphic Medicine with Ripple Effects, a five-issue comic book series which explores life as a superhero with an invisible illness. The series was inspired by creator Jordan Hart's lived experience with an invisible and incurable blood-clotting disease called thrombophilia. As October 13th is World Thrombosis Day, Hart and the team at Fanbase Press wish to join physicians, educators, advocates, patients, and their loved ones in raising awareness for thrombosis, including its causes, risk factors, signs/symptoms, and evidence-based prevention and treatment.
The Fanbase Press staff is very excited to be exhibiting at the 2022 East End Art and Comics Takeover, alongside a number of other talented independent creators! Taking place on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the dA Center for the Arts in Pomona, CA, the event is a celebration of comic books that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators and is FREE and open to the public. We will be meeting readers at the Fanbase Press booth, where you can purchase all of our comics and graphic novels, including ADVANCE copies of the graphic medicine series, Ripple Effects!
The Fanbase Press staff is very excited to exhibit at Long Beach Comic Expo 2022, alongside a number of other talented independent creators! Taking place on Saturday, September 3, and Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the Long Beach Convention Center, the annual event is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators of all pop culture genres. Throughout the weekend, we will be meeting fans at the Fanbase Press booth (Table C4) to pick up copies of the 2018 Eisner Award-nominated Quince, the multiple award-winning Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition hardcover, the 2022 International Latino Book Award-winning Nuclear Power trade paperback, the 2014 Bram Stoker Award-nominated Fearworms: Selected Poems, The Sequels, A Geek's Guide to Cross-Stitch: Journeys in Space, The Margins, The Gamma Gals, Something Animal, Identity Thief, The Arcs, and Penguins vs. Possums.
Fanbase Press is honored to announce that its alternate history series, Nuclear Power, was named the Gold Medal winner for the 2022 International Latino Book Awards (via Empowering Latino Futures) in the Graphic Novel category. The International Latino Book Awards aim to recognize greatness in literature, honoring authors, translators, and illustrators for books written in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The ceremony for the 24nd annual International Latino Book Awards took place on August 19-20, 2022.
Fanbase Press is thrilled to announce that the upcoming trade paperback of its five-issue graphic medicine series, Ripple Effects, will feature a foreword written by Matthew Noe (Librarian, Harvard Medical School / Treasurer, Graphic Medicine International Collective) and will be released on November 15, 2022. The team is also revealing the brand new trade paperback cover, featuring the artwork of series cover artist Justin C. Harder (CLAUS Studios), as well as the pre-order exclusive for customers who order by August 1, 2022!

Ripple Effects is a five-issue comic book series which explores life as a superhero with an invisible disability and features an "Unseen Ripples" essay series written by individuals with invisible disabilities who relate Ripple Effects' events to their own lived experience. Series creator/writer/colorist Jordan Hart and cover artist Justin C. Harder (CLAUS Studios) will be on hand at the Fanbase Press booth (Table O-03) throughout the week to sign copies of the SDCC exclusive!

The International Latino Book Awards aim to recognize greatness in literature, honoring authors, translators, and illustrators for books written in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The ceremony for the 24nd annual International Latino Book Awards will take place virtually on August 19-20, 2022. At the ceremony, winners will be named for first and second place, as well as an honorable mention.

In an effort to help readers better empathize with and understand the difficulties of navigating invisible disabilities, Fanbase Press is excited to announce that every issue of the series will feature "Unseen Ripples" - an essay series written by individuals with invisible disabilities who relate Ripple Effects' events to their own lived experience.
Fanbase Press is honored to share that it has been named a 2022 Eisner Award nominee in the "Best Comics-Related Periodical/Journalism" category. This marks the second Eisner Award nomination for the comic book publisher and geek culture website, with the first nomination announced in 2018 for the bilingual comic book series, Quince.
