The Mayor (Harry Groener) to Preside at Whedonopolis 2016

Whedonopolis 2016, the Joss Whedon-centric convention taking place from May 13-15, 2016, at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, recently announced the addition of Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Harry Groener to its list of special guests.  The inaugural convention will raise funds to support the Sophie Lancaster Foundation and the Pop Culture Hero Coalition, two non-profits created to combat bullying and peer pressure.

Harry Groener, the actor who breathed life into the delightfully devilish Mayor Richard Wilkins III from Buffy‘s third season, will be joining an ever-growing roster of Whedonverse villains making an appearance this May, including Sam Anderson (Holland Manners – Angel), Juliet Landau (Drusilla – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Doug Jones (The Gentlemen – Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hellboy), and Camden Toy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel).

Nominated for three Tony awards, Groener promises to bring an unforgettable presence to the stages of the fan-run convention.  A mainstay in film and television since 1980, he has made appearances in television treasures including Matlock, Murphy Brown, Home Improvement, 3rd Rock from the Sun, King of the Hill, The Drew Carey Show, Malcolm in the Middle, The West Wing, Monk, Bones, Breaking Bad, and How I Met Your Mother. Sci-fi and fantasy fans might recognize Groener from Quantum Leap, Star Trek: Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Roswell, Charmed, Supernatural, and Once Upon A Time. His film credits include roles in Patch Adams, Amistad, Road to Perdition, and About Schmidt.

In addition to his film and television work, Groener also serves (with fellow Whedon alum Armin Shimerman) on the Board of Directors of the Antaeus Theatre Ensemble and recently appeared in the critically acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya
