Join Fanboy Comics and SoCal’s Indie Creators at Long Beach Comic Con 2015

The Fanboy Comics staff is very excited to be exhibiting at Long Beach Comic Con next weekend, alongside a number of other talented independent creators! Taking place on Saturday, September 12 (from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.), and Sunday, September 13, 2015 (from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.), at the Long Beach Convention Center, the annual event is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators of all pop culture genres. In addition, Fanboy Comics will be hosting its perennial Indie Creators, Unite! panel on the process of comic book creation, and we invite you to join in on the fun!

Fans in attendance will have a chance to stop by the Fanboy Comics table (Artists’ Alley #A3) to learn more about the graphic novels Penguins vs. Possums, The Arcs, Something Animal, Identity Thief, Fearworms: Selected Poems!  In addition, co-hosts Dr. Andrea Letamendi and Brian Ward of the critically acclaimed podcast, The Arkham Sessions, will be on hand to meet listeners and record attendees’ questions about Batman: The Animated Series for an upcoming episode of the show!  Dr. Letamendi will also have copies of the photography book, Cosplay in America, available for sale, to which she contributed the introduction.  For more analysis of geekdom’s favorite superheros, be sure to stop by The Psychology of Daredevil panel on Saturday, September 12, at 10:30 a.m., which will feature Christos Gage, Ruth Fletcher Gage, Dr. Letamendi, Tommy Walker, and Peter Shinkoda. Last, but certainly not least, fans of The Katniss Chronicles, an official audio drama adaptation of The Hunger Games, will also have the chance to meet the project’s creators. Fanboy Comics will be selling PVP Minis, select art prints, and the official Fanboy Comics t-shirt, so that attendees can show their geek pride in style.

In addition, you will not want to miss Fanboy Comics’ panel, which will include the following:

The Indie Creators, Unite! How to Make Self-Publishing a Reality panel will take place on Sunday, September 13, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 101A, where LA-based independent comic book creators will discuss their own experiences in self-publishing, providing sage advice for creators interested in doing the same. Moderated by Fanboy Comics Managing Editor Barbra Dillon, the panelists will include Jody Houser, Writer (Orphan Black, Cupcake POW!), Gavin Hignight (Nickelodeon’s TMNT, The Concrete World), Jacob Semahn (Image Comics’ Goners), Josh Trujillo (Love Machines, Death Saves), and Bryant Dillon (Fanboy Comics President, Identity Thief, Something Animal).

Attendees will also find a plethora of other independent comic book creators on the showroom floor! Author Justin Robinson (Get Blank, Mr. Blank, Everyman) will be exhibiting in Artists’ Alley Table A2.  Robinson will also be a panelist on The Best Worst Movies (You’ve Never Heard Of) Panel on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in Room 101B.  In addition, Joshua Hauke (Tales of the Brothers Three) will be at Artists’ Alley Table L5 with copies of his latest book, The Sock Sucking Bandit! If anyone buys all three of his books, they will be getting a free pair of monster socks to keep their feet warm while reading.  Sketch card and comic artist Chris Thorne will be in Artists’ Alley U5 doing sketches and sketch covers with additional prints available for sale.  Writer and artist David Flores (Dead Future King) will be at the Golden Apple Comics Booth on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. and on Sunday from 12-2 p.m.  Last, but certainly not least, Madeleine Holly-Rosing will be at Artists’ Alley Table I5 with the anthology, Boston Metaphysical Society: Prelude, and her Kickstarter book, Kickstarter for the Independent Creator, making its debut.
