Tales for Ales continues ,and three new storytellers get a license to play in David Petersen’s signature series.

Mark A. Nelson brings to life a tale of a monster, the son of a god crashing into the Mouse Territories.  Heroism abounds, but the final solution makes for an interesting moral question that is all too perfect for the world of the Guard.

Jake Parker weaves a story also focusing on consequence, this time focusing on a brilliant mind and his creations for all mousekind and what others have planned for them.  Reminiscent of the events of Alfred Nobel’s life but with a different outcome, it’s a story that inspires and reminds us all that heroism comes in many forms.  I really dig the art style he uses, as well, a flavor of Skottie Young but something all his own.

Finally, Ramon K. Perez tells of a treasure with two values, and one that can be won only by a pure heart.  It’s a troubling tale with harsh realities and a perfect close to this issue.

Petersen melds all the elements wonderfully and gives us his signature style with every lovingly crafted page.  Definitely worth the pickup for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
