Last year, the Fanboy Comics staff had the distinct pleasure of reviewing the first annual Sci-Fest LA, Hollywood’s first one-act play festival that celebrates all things science fiction. After the success of last year’s shows, Sci-Fest LA will return for its sophomore year from May 5-31, 2015. In order to ensure the same level of talented performers and thought-provoking one-acts, the creators behind the show have launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise the necessary funds for the festival, and they need your help to make it a reality!
Co-founded by veteran Los Angeles theatre producers Michael Blaha and Lee Costello and actor David Dean Bottrell (Boston Legal), Sci-Fest LA’s mission is to produce an annual festival of new, beautifully realized, and visually compelling sci-fi one-acts featuring many well-known actors from beloved sci-fi and fantasy franchises. Their most recent event (a special performance of Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds) featured a cast that included Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: TNG, Big Bang Theory), Walter Koenig (“Lt. Chekhov” on the original Star Trek series), Michael Dorn (Star Trek: TNG), René Auberjonois and Armin Shimerman (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager), Linda Park (Star Trek: Enterprise), Emmy-nominee Jason Ritter (Parenthood, The Event), and Dean Haglund (The X-Files).
Be sure to visit the Sci-Fest LA Indiegogo page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include “No Nerd Left Behind” bumper stickers, Sci-Fest LA t-shirts, unique caricatures of YOU as your favorite sci-fi character, and more!
The campaign closes on Wednesday, March 18th, so be sure to donate soon!
