Tread Perilously is a podcast in which hosts Erik Amaya and author Justin Robinson watch the “worst” episodes of popular TV shows, attempting to determine if they would continue to watch the series based on the most off-key moments.

This Week: Doctor Who‘s “The Doctor’s Wife”

Tread Perilously continues its fourth anniversary celebration with another Doctor Who story. This week: “The Doctor’s Wife.”

The Doctor, Amy, and Rory follow a distress signal out of the conventional universe into a strange pocket realm housing an asteroid. There, they find discarded TARDISes, patchwork people, and a woman named Idris. She seems to know the Doctor, but all of her responses are in the wrong order. Meanwhile, an entity known as House invades the TARDIS. Can Amy and Rory stop him from stealing his way into the normal universe? Is Idris the soul of the TARDIS made flesh? And did she steal the Doctor all those years ago?

Justin immediately gets lost in details of the Time War but swears his allegiance to Karen Gillan should she ever become queen of Scotland. Erik learns about a truly tough D&D monster. He also learns about the four Terry Pratchett novels he needs to read. The pair try to figure why Hugh Laurie has not been a Doctor Who villain yet. The discussion naturally leads to Legends of Tomorrow. Justin decides how he’d want his TARDIS console room to look and the only water in the forest is the river.
