Tread Perilously is a podcast in which hosts Erik Amaya and author Justin Robinson watch the “worst” episodes of popular TV shows, attempting to determine if they would continue to watch the series based on the most off-key moments.
Tread Perilously is dark this week for San Diego Comic-Con, but we thought it might be an excellent time to look at some of the older episodes in the archive.
For instance, last year’s Comic-Con special saw Erik finally forcing Justin to watch Star Trek: The “Motion” Picture. They discuss its long effect scenes and Will Riker’s understanding of consent.
One of the early episodes saw Erik and Justin watching the Doctor Who episode, “Horns of the Nimon.” Erik used to think it was the worst episode of the series, but he proves to be wrong.
They’ve watched a lot of Doctor Who together, but few episodes are as pivotal as “The Krotons,” which introduced Justin to Zoe Herriot and the Second Doctor.
Of course, Tread Perilously is more than Star Trek and Doctor Who. Early on, Erik reminded Justin about his mistake involving Bai Ling and a certain episode of Lost:
They also took on one of the most baffling episodes of Miami Vice ever made. It features James Brown and aliens.
And if you want to hear how it all began, here’s the first episode of Tread Perilously — though it wasn’t called that at the time. It started as an innocent recap podcast where Erik and Justin decided to talk about The Lizzy Borden Chronicles and fall in love with a lowlife named Skipjack.
