As a special feature of The Fanbase Weekly podcast, the Fanbase Feature focuses on and celebrates a specific element of geek culture.

In this Fanbase Feature mini-series, Dream Journal – A Focus on Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman will provide an in-depth analysis of Neil Gaiman’s iconic comic book series, The Sandman. In this 10-episode limited podcast series, each episode will analyze one of the 10 trade paperbacks that span the full run of the Sandman series, exploring the themes of Gaiman’s seminal series, but also delving into the role of dreams in narrative storytelling and the overall impact that stories can impart on their audiences.

In this special eleventh episode of Dream Journal, the Fanbase Press podcast group POPSKL (Pissed-Off, Psychic Scary Kids of LA) invites award-winning special guest Dirk Maggs to discuss his work as writer, director, and producer on The Sandman Audible Drama. Dirk talks about his history in the audio drama business, his working with Neil Gaiman and how he became involved in adapting The Sandman, and how he approaches the craft of bringing these worlds to cinematic life. Being creators themselves, the panelists bring a unique perspective to this roundtable discussion, but mostly they sit back and let Dirk do the talking. If you love The Sandman Audible Drama and the seminal graphic novel from which it’s based, geek out and chill with POPSKL as we bring you big conversations for big stories.
