The Fanbase Press staff is very excited to be exhibiting once again at Los Angeles Comic Con, alongside a number of other talented independent creators! Taking place from December 1-3, 2023, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the annual event is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators of all pop culture genres. Throughout the weekend, we will be meeting fans at the Fanbase Press booth (Artist Alley J33), where you can purchase all of our comics and graphic novels, including award-winning titles like Ripple Effects, Nuclear Power, and Quince, and meet the creators!  The team will also be participating in lots of incredible panels, so be sure to check out the programming and signing schedules below.

Fans in attendance will have a chance to stop by the Fanbase Press booth to pick up our award-winning comics and graphic novels, including the 2023 Eisner and Harvey Awards-nominated Ripple Effects, the 2018 Eisner Award-nominated Quince, the multiple award-winning Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition hardcover, the 2022 International Latino Book Award-winning Nuclear Power, the newly released LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age graphic novel Four-Color Heroes, and more.

Fanbase Press’ Programming

Fanbase Press and its creators will be hosting a number of thought-provoking panels throughout the weekend:

SATURDAY

1:00 p.m.: Hey, That’s Just Like Me! When Superheroes Represent Their Readers – Led by Barbra Dillon (editor-in-chief, Fanbase Press), this panel – featuring Jordan Hart (writer, Ripple Effects), David M. Booher (writer, Killer Queens), Ashley V. Robinson (writer, Jupiter Jet), and Jen Troy (writer, Assassin G) – will feature a thoughtful conversation about why it is important that the superheroes in comic books become more representative of their diverse readership, demonstrating examples of mainstream and independent comics which have made positive strides towards reflecting today’s society in their creators, stories, and characters. Room: 402B

3:00 p.m.: Graphic Medicine: Building Empathy Through Comics – Led by Barbra Dillon (editor-in-chief, Fanbase Press), this panel – featuring Jordan Hart (writer, Ripple Effects), Dr. Theresa Rojas (Board Member, Graphic Medicine Int’l Collective), and Alex Schumacher (writer, The Ill Effects of Pickled Herring) – will discuss the field of graphic medicine (i.e., the convergence of Medicine and Comics) and how these visual stories have allowed us to examine the essentials of human existence, to understand ourselves better, and to connect with one another through empathy and compassion.   • Craig Miller will be in Artist’s Alley (Table TBD), where he’ll be selling and signing copies of his book, Star Wars Memories, and selling several different original crew patches, buttons, set “passports,” and similar items from Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.
  • Writer/Artist Javier Hernanez (El Muerto) will be in Artist Alley (Table F33) with copies of the brand new anthology, Viva El Muerto, and the Muertober art book.
  • Writer/artist Christie Shinn will be in Artist Alley (Table G37) with her books, PEN_15 Here and Demon B Meets Mr. F Word.
  • Writer David Avallone will be in Artist Alley (Table F34) with copies of his work on several Elvira comic book series.
  • Writer Norm Harper will be in Artist Alley (Table J31) with copies of his graphic novels, The Sequels, Haphaven, Rikki, and more.
  • Artist Don Aguillo will be in Artist Alley (Table C35) promoting the new Spawn cover, as well as continued promotion of his Spawn work, the 2023 DC Pride Anthology, new body of work/art prints and upcoming projects with DC and Image, along with work on Marvel Legendary, Disney Lorcana, and Marvel Snap games.
  • The co-hosts of the Comadres y Comics podcast will be exhibiting as part of Shero Con (Booth 1315).
  • Writer/artist Arthur Ebuen will be at Artist Alley (Table G17) under the label, “Studio 12-7with copies of his creator-owned series, ©alifornia, Inc., as well as pins and patches. Each day, he’ll have one gold ©alifornia, Inc. bear logo pin to give away to the first person to get all covers of issue #1. If #2 is available, and all covers are purchased, he’ll have a silver version of the pin to that person, as well. (Gold and silver bear logo pins are rare and have only been given away; they have never been for individual sale.) 
  • Writer D.J. Kirkbride will be in Artist Alley (Table H20) alongside toy and zine maker Douglas Gauthier (a.k.a. heysoupface)!  
  • Writer/artist Don Nguyen will be in Artist Alley (Table F45) with a number of exclusive and limited print run books!
