skynet 857April 19, 2013

Today is April 19th, and you know what that means, kiddies. According to the short-lived fan favorite The Sarah Connor Chronicles, today is Skynet Activation Day!

As any well-educated fanboy knows, Skynet is the artificially intelligent computer system that serves as a major villain in the Terminator franchise. According to James Cameron’s Terminator lore, Skynet was originally installed into the U.S. military mainframe to control the national arsenal on August 4, 1997.  (Despite this fact, The Sarah Connor Chronicles sees this date a little differently.)

As a result of temporal interference by Sarah Connor, her son John, Miles Dyson, and the T-800 destroying Cyberdyne headquarters and all backups of the research in 1995, the date for Judgment Day is moved back. Skynet is destined to go online a few days earlier on April 19, 2011, at 20:11.)  It was only 25 days later that Skynet became self-aware and decided to exterminate the human race.

We at Fanboy Comics wish you a Happy Skynet Activation Day and encourage you to pat yourself on the back for all of your amazing accomplishments! Skynet Activation Day is a time to be over-confident, foolhardy, and fully convinced that humans are the ultimate form of intelligent life! Don’t forget to spend time trusting machines implicitly! Is your coffer maker plotting against you? Of course not! It’s making your coffee, silly goose!

Sincerely,
