FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
BLASTOFF LANDS IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD
Online retailer known for notable collections opens brick-and-mortar boutique After an inaugural year of making headlines with its acquisition and sale of the collections of comics from literary figures like Mark Waid, Harlan Ellison and Karl Kesel, Blastoff is pleased to announce the grand opening of its first retail boutique, located in North Hollywood, California. The store will be holding its grand-opening celebration on Saturday, November 10, featuring appearances by comic-book writer Mark Waid (DAREDEVIL, KINGDOM COME), novelist and comics writer Gregg Hurwitz (THE SURVIVOR, BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT), comic-book writer Jim Krueger (JUSTICE, EARTH-X), and comic-book writer and author Scott Tipton (STAR TREK/DOCTOR WHO, THE STAR TREK VAULT).
“What we’ve tried to do is take everything that our readers and customers have enjoyed about the web site – our focus on comics history, on vintage comics, on nostalgia and collectibles, and on the value of comics as an art form – and translate that to a tangible brick-and-mortar store, and a truly unique shopping experience,” said Scott Tipton, Blastoff’s co-founder and Chief Creative Officer. “It’s like no other comic-book shop you’ve ever been to.”
“Everyone says this when they’re opening a new shop, but I truly believe we’re offering a unique experience. Like all collectors and historians, we’re fascinated by the marriage of the past and the future. History is what we make of it and I think collectors will see the history we’re making here,” offers Jud Meyers, Blastoff co-founder and CEO. “I feel like Willy Wonka. I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome everyone in!”
Offering both current comics and graphic novels and an astonishing collection of vintage comics for sale, including portions of the Waid, Ellison and Kesel Collections still available, Blastoff’s North Hollywood location will become a destination for Southern California comics fans looking for rarities that they just can’t find anywhere else.
