The Fanbase Press staff is very excited to be joining the programming lineup for LA Comic Con once again this year, alongside a host of talented independent creators! Taking place from December 2-4, 2022, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, LA Comic Con is LA’s largest pop culture convention.

Sunday, December 4

  • 11:00 a.m.: What Editors Want – Hosted by Rylend Grant and David Avallone of the award-winning podcast, The Writers Block! This panel will include Barbra Dillon (Editor-in-Chief, Fanbase Press) and more. (Room TBD)

  • 1:00 p.m.: Do I Really Need a Publisher – Hosted by Kickstarter phenom Charlie Stickney (White Ash) and featuring Barbra Dillon (Editor-in-Chief, Fanbase Press), David Pepose (Savage Avengers), Kelly Sue Milano (HexComix), and David Avallone (Elvira in Horrorland)! (Room TBD)

  • 3:30 p.m.From Inspiration to Reality – Moderated by Barbra Dillon (Editor-in-Chief, Fanbase Press), the members of the geek-centric POPSKL Podcast: Justin Peniston (writer, Sonic Prime, Hunter Black Comics), Lisa K. Weber (artist, Hex11), Kelly Sue Milano (writer, Hex11), Clarissa Thorne (writer and crafter, A Geek’s Guide to Cross-Stitch: Journeys in Space), and Phillip Kelly (screenwriter, actor, filmmaker) offer insights into how they let the media they love inspire and influence their creative professional work in animation, TV, comic books, films, performance, and crafting. (Room TBD)

INDIE CREATORS IN ATTENDANCE

In addition, you will not want to miss the other indie creators, writers, artists, and publishers who will be exhibiting their work at the convention.

  • As an invited artist of the convention, Don Aguillo (InHiatus Studios, Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, Fanbase Press’ The Sequels) will be on a panel on Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 p.m. moderated by Justin Otero, “Asian Representation in Comics and Media,” along with Leilani Shu, Kristen Lau, and Ron Seouloh. (Room 402 B).
  • Award-winning writer Norm Harper (Karate Petshop, Rikki, Fanbase Press’ The Sequels) will be in Creator’s Court with copies of his comics and graphic novels.
  • Elvira in Horrorland writer David Avallone will be in Creator’s Court with copies of his comics available for sale.
  • Award-winning writer D.J. Kirkbride will be exhibiting in Creator’s Court/Artist Alley with colleague Douglas Gauthier (a.k.a. “heysoupface”). Kirkbride will have copies of his Dark Horse Comics trade paperbacks on hand: ERRAND BOYS at $15 ($5 off cover); THE ONCE AND FUTURE QUEEN at $15; and NEVER ENDING at $5 (half off cover) or FREE with any other purchase — at the table! Douglas will have handmade wooden toys and zines for sale. Here’s a link to his online store.
  • Writer Charlie Stickney (White Ash) will be at the White Ash Comics booth #614. He’ll have a Glarien LACC exclusive with a cover by Liana Kangas… who will also be at the booth signing, along with Conor Hughes.
  • CAPS (Comic Art Professional Society) members Steven Prince (Monster Matador) and Allen Carter (Carter Comics, Cosmic Force, Damn Tourists), as well as CAPS President Christie Shinn (Demon Bitch: TRIGGERED) will be at Booth 103 as part of the Creator’s Court, courtesy of The Comic Bug and Collector’s Paradise.
