Fans, fellow comic creators, and area residents recently celebrated the release of Fanbase Press’ Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition – an oversized hardcover collecting the full English and Spanish editions of the Eisner-nominated bilingual comic book series, Quince, this past weekend (Saturday, January 25, 2020) at Hi De Ho Comics in Santa Monica, CA. Attendees were treated to food, music, and comics, with a plethora of fantastic photos taken by Fanbase Press’ Michele Brittany to commemorate the special occasion!
Members of the Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition creative team were in attendance at the release event, including creator Sebastian Kadlecik (Penguins vs. Possums), writer Kit Steinkellner (Facebook Watch’s Sorry for Your Loss), artist Emma Steinkellner (The Okay Witch), as well as Peter Murrieta (Exec. Producer/Showrunner/Writer, Mr. Iglesias), Dr. Theresa Rojas (Modesto Junior College), and artist Jose Cabrera who contributed a number of stellar bonus features included in the new hardcover edition.
For those unfamiliar, Quince follows a year in the life of Lupe, a 15-year-old girl who discovers that her quinceañera brings with it a super cool party . . . and superpowers. Her quince powers only last as long as she’s fifteen, so, over the course of this rollercoaster year, we follow the adventures of Lupe as she figures out what it really means to be a hero.
Thank you to Hi De Ho Comics for hosting this incredible event, as well as everyone who came out to celebrate this special occasion. The Fanbase Press team hopes that you will enjoy some of the exciting highlights from the Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition Release Party below:
