Look. I get it. The world sucks right now.
The world is dark and confusing, and even though it feels like a movie, we’re not watching the movie some of us were hoping for. It’s as if we asked mom to put on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, because, you know, Harry is still young and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named isn’t scary at all. But instead, we got The Human Centipede.
But what about comic books? Will those help for now? If anything could be real, could we at least get an IRL superhero every once in a while?!
Take the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for example. They’re off fighting crime, but now in an entirely different dimension! With General Krang on trial for his past war crimes, it’s up to our pizza-loving friends to keep him behind bars. But after Krang hires assassin Hakk-R to eliminate any witnesses against him, it’s a race against time before the Turtles can find them and bring them to safety.
In the last few weeks, our heroes have managed to save blob-like being extraordinaire B’een and the belly-faced beast, Anemon. But this week, in TMNT Dimension X #3, the Turtles meet their match—at a wrestling match! Well, a wrestling planet, rather. Meet Stump and Sling, the tree-like owners of Stump Asteroid (Okay, so it’s not a planet after all!) and witnesses to Krang’s destruction of their own planet. Okay, so they sold their own planet to Krang to make enough money for a wrestling asteroid. Dreamers gotta dream, right? It’s up to our heroes-in-a-half-shell to put a stop to their madness once and for all, and hopefully Krang’s while they’re at it…
Shout-outs all around to this week’s Dimension X team. I believe writer Aubrey Sitterson delivers one of the best storylines in this mini series so far. All the while, artist Khary Randolph and colorist John Rauch have created some stunning pages that coincide beautifully with other TMNT comics. I look forward to future collaborations between this entire team.
In the meantime, since I can’t escape the dimension we currently live in, I’ll see you all in a different dimension! Same time next week?
