The holidays are coming,
And the turtle’s getting fat!
Please put a penny
In the old, talking rat!

Do you like my new holiday jingle?  If you guess that it was written especially for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you were right!  (Just don’t tell Raph or he’ll get angry…)

Meanwhile, I’m here with this month’s review for IDW Publishing’s ongoing TMNT comic book series, and this storyline is hotter than a honey-baked Christmas ham!  War has ventured into the lives of our heroes-in-a-half-shell, and after an intense battle between Master Splinter, The Foot Clan, and evil businessman, Dun, head of the Street Phantoms, Dun’s name has new meaning because Dun…is done for!  Dead!  Kaput!  Deceased!  And the Turtles are not happy with their father and his new approach to fighting…

Which is why this month in TMNT #65 the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles throw themselves a Christmas party!  And even though no one seems to be speaking to one another, everyone appears to be invited—the Mutanimals, Professor Harold and his wife, April and Casey, Angel, and even the pizza-delivery guy, Woody.  It’s a wonder everyone manages to get along so well, at least until Donatello manages to cause a power outage…

I feel like a broken record, or maybe even the movie, Elf, which I usually have on repeat this time of year, but I stand strong when I say that writers Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz have one of the best ongoing storylines in the comic book industry these days. After a few difficult issues, it’s nice to see our heroes celebrate with one another, despite their current differences.  They remind us all what this time of year is truly all about.

Now, I wonder what will happen to our pizza-loving friends in the new year…

Until next month,
#TurtlePower
