When Fanbase Press is not providing you with the latest in geek news and entertainment, the Fanbase Press staff hopes to offer our readers a myriad of opportunities to give back to the community. We love reading comics, watching movies, and playing video games, but we are never happier than when we are able to help others in need. With Geeks Care: How You Can Help, Fanbase Press will provide you a variety of causes that would greatly appreciate your time.

Fanbase Press’ Geeks Care: How You Can Help installment is coming to you a bit earlier than usual this week, as we wanted to inform you of a charity event that is well worth your focus and attention.  This evening, CGFGC (Canned Goods for Good Charity) will be hosting their 7th Annual CGFGC Charity Ball & Swag Bag Party at The Study Hollywood, and all proceeds from the event will benefit Project Return Peer Support Network, a non-profit organization based in Commerce, CA, that promotes wellness, personal growth, and self-determination for people who have experienced mental illness by providing social opportunities, education, and community involvement. Offering an evening of comedy, music, raffle prizes, and free swag, we hope that you will enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment while learning how you can help.

In this year’s CGFGC Charity Ball (and with a recommended $25 donation), there will be an hour of free wine from Desperada Wines and $5,200 worth of raffle prizes have been provided by: Actor’s Key, April Rey Salon, Artist Tess Fowler, Blast from the Past, Craftsman Soap, Creature Features, Dark Delicacies, Drongo Photo, Everson Royce, Foxy and Fierce Bootcamp, Hero Complex Gallery, Kahuna Tiki, Kentucky Peerless Distilling, LGO, Lionsgate, Marquis De’von Men’s Grooming Studio, Wanderlust, Warner Bros, and Xbox. The event will have 4+ hours of entertainment from Emcee Travis Clark (Tiny Odd Conversations), comedians Andie Bolt (MTV’s Mary+Jane, WoW Mom), Curtis Kingsley (The Burn, MTV’s Disaster Date) and Eva Marie Woodby, and with musicians Ari Herstand, Adam Lasher (American Idol), and Mad Revival. EVERY attendee will walk away with a Swag Bag valued at over $350!
