The Arkham Sessions, Ep. 273 – The Exorcist
The Exorcist (1973) is a supernatural horror film following the demonic possession of a 12-year-old girl named Regan, and her mother’s desperate attempts to find a cure. From medical to psychiatric interventions, Regan undergoes a series of invasive and painful exams delivered by various experts and scientists, but none are successful in eliminating the evil being dwelling inside her mind and body. Throughout the film, Regan’s mother also descends into despair and darkness, but her determination to save her daughter is unwavering. When all possible medical solutions are exhausted, she turns to the expertise of Father Merrin and Father Karras, two Jesuit Catholic priests who have to administer an exorcism.
