Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support).

Long Away

Project #2: Long Away

What it’s about
: Set twenty-five years into the future, Long Away is a sci-fi story about Victoria and the father who died when she was very young. As a trans woman who transitioned as an adult, Victoria’s father never got to know her truth. She uses a one-round-trip-only time travel device to jump back to our present and meet the man she can barely remember, bond with him over comics… and try to find out if he’d love her for who she really is.

Because we need trans stories now more than ever.

Hexes Horror HP

Project #3: Horror Comic Double-Bill – Hexes: Pareidolia & Four Breaths

What it’s about
: Hexes are one-off psychological horror stories, set in the same universe. Every issue is written by Simon Birks, but illustrated by a different artist. Over the last ten years, Blue Fox Comics have published two volumes, both of which are available as part of the campaign.

For this campaign, we have two brand new issues – Hexes: Four Breaths and Hexes: Pareidolia:

Hexes: Four Breaths is a 28-page story of loss and hope, what’s been and what’s to come, written by Simon Birks, art by Majory Yokomizo and letters by Rob Jones.

Hexes: Pareidolia is a 28-page story of falling between the cracks, written by Simon Birks, art by Willi Roberts and letters by Rob Jones.

Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders TGG

Project #4: Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders: The Gene Genie

What it’s about
: Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders: The Gene Genie is a two-part graphic novel adventure starring the world’s greatest detective as you’ve never seen him before.

Volume Two has Holmes at his lowest ebb, losing his closest friend and confidante to prime minister Oswald Mosley’s thugs. But a cornered man is perhaps the most dangerous, so can he – with the assistance of rebel Mohock Franklyn Miller, Mosley’s former cats paw Six, and others – bring down Mosley and restore England to its status quo?

Tokyo Blade Detectives 1 9

Project #5: Tokyo Blade Detectives #1-9

What it’s about
: The story is set 200 years into the future, where Japan has been rebuilt through incredible technology and several new laws. But the one that no one can break is “No Guns Allowed.”

While noble, it creates a power vacuum that is filled with groups using “laser swords.” Now, the capital of Tokyo is constantly under siege. Five factions have risen up to take everything for themselves, and our main character, Miko, a 16-year-old detective, is just trying to live in it all.

Each arc/volume is four issues long, with each story directly tying into the next one in big and small ways. Everything is connected here, and that means the payoffs are more fun as a result.

Volume 3 will be unique compared to the last two, as it’ll feature a very different kind of antagonist while also showing some of the origins of a key detective duo. So, are you ready to dive in?
