Comic book creator and brain aneurysm survivor Siike Donnelly has returned with his tale of a superhero who must decide what to do with his last day on Earth. With a dual goal of entertaining fans and educating readers about brain aneurysms, the original The Adventures of Solestar brought together a (then) record-breaking amount number of creators to work on the project, and Donnelly is doing it again with the Definitive Edition of the book. Now featuring a total of 154 contributing artists, The Adventures of Solestar is soaring once more and flying towards setting a new Guinness Book of World Record for Most Contributors to a Single Comic*!

MINOR SPOILERS BELOW

As mentioned in my intro, The Adventures of Solestar tells the story of Isamu Takahashi’s (a.k.a. Solestar) last living day on Earth. Donnelly’s story focuses on the impact the superhero has made among those around him and what he chooses to do with the last of his time. While it could easily be a dark and depressing tale given the content and plot elements, Donnelly instead crafts a positive and hope-filled tale that harkens back to the bright, exciting, and fun comic book origins of characters like Superman, Green Lantern, Shazam, and others.

Donnelly may be the creator of The Adventures of Solestar, but, as his official press release states, he’s got quite an impressive team assembled around him, “teaming up with Dan Harmon (Community, Rick & Morty), Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Annie Stoll (Star Wars Rebels), Livio Ramondelli (Transformers), Marc Andreyko (Batwoman), and 150 equally talented artists from around the world.”  There are also a number of FBC favorites involved with the project, including artists like Chris Thorne (The Thirty Six), Morgan Perry, and comic artist Mathew Reynolds (The Mercenary Sea).

FINAL VERDICT: I cannot recommend purchasing this book enough!  Both the mission of The Adventures of Solestar and the massive creative team behind the book are awesome and admirable, and this is every comic fan’s chance to purchase a unique and awesome comic while helping a good cause. As Donnelly puts it, The Adventures of Solestar is a “jam-style comic; each page, pinup, and piece of art donated by a different artist to deliver a very unique look at the world of super-powered people, while also raising awareness (and funds) to a very real threat in our world.”

If you’re interested in purchasing a copy of The Adventures of Solestar (and why wouldn’t you be?), you can find it available exclusively at CreateSpace.com and Amazon, as well as on Kindle.

In the meantime, Donnelly has generously provided us with an exclusive preview of the artwork from the book, which may be found below!

That’s all for now, comic book sniffers! Keep fighting the good fight!

‘Till the end of the world,
