When we last left Jezebel, she had discovered that the unicorn was her Uncle Seamus’ long lost brother, Prince Edward. The young men had parted angrily, as Edward had wanted the adoration his foster brother received from their father. In a fit of jealousy, Edward made a bargain with a witch to give him magic. It is not surprising the witch had a trick up her sleeve and turned him into a unicorn. Ashamed of his actions, he hid in the forest near the marsh for years, and it was only when Jezebel befriended him that the two brothers reunited.
As the Solstice celebration begins, the two brothers rekindle their relationship while Jezebel tries to figure out a way to end Edward’s curse. Enrique, the vampire, has not forgotten the damage Edward has done to his hoard and unleashes their newest weapon on him. The question is: Will Edward survive long enough for Jezebel to find an end to the witch’s spell? Or will he be doomed to this form forever?
The second issue continues to be fun and entertaining though the conflict is a little slow in coming. I do like that the story reinforces the idea that when fighting evil, we are stronger together than we are apart. The art is also laid out well for the young reader. Be sure to check out the sketches of the new characters at the end, along with short biographies of each.
Highly recommended to young readers.
