‘TMNT Ongoing #64:’ Advance Comic Book Review

Well, Thanksgiving is almost here, and if there’s one thing I’m thankful for, it’s the comic book world we currently live in. If you head to your local comic book store these days, you can find stories from your favorite Disney, Marvel, DC, and Star Wars characters, and more! We even have a Back to the Future series that’s been going on for over a year now! How awesome is that?!

Even more so, you can also read about our favorite pizza-loving heroes, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  A few months ago, Master Splinter (now in charge of The Foot clan) planned to have Donatello’s friend, Professor Harold, captured by the Street Phantoms. But the Professor can take care of himself better than anyone would expect, and, apparently, Casey Jones is now the leader of the Purple Dragons.

Which brings us to this month with TMNT #64. War has stumbled upon our heroes-in-a-half-shell, but at least Harold shows us all how to rekindle an old flame even in the midst of danger. But not everyone will make it out of this issue alive, especially after an intense battle between Splinter and evil businessman, mastermind behind the Street Phantoms, Dun.

You know, I really love storylines with role reversals where good becomes evil, and we feel something for villains, even when they perish. Every month, writers Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz bring us more than just an ongoing story. Instead, they bring us characters who feel. They feel for their actions. They feel for each other. And thus, we feel for them. I don’t think there’s a better writing team in the comic book industry out there.

Until next month,
#TurtlePower
