‘Wynd #10:’ Advance Comic Book Review

Wynd has grown from a personal story of escape from a bigoted city into a world of political intrigue and war games. Our scrappy band of heroes, now with Wynd 2.0 at their helm, is having to step up their game, because a bunch of nasty Vampyres want their wings back, and there’s only one way to get them… start a war. Who lives and who dies after the chaos of the last issue? I guess you’ll just have to read issue 10 to find out!

This series has never not been entertaining. This series has never not had high stakes. Even when it was one magical boy crushing on the castle gardener’s son from across the street, the stakes were high. With every step, with every addition to the story, Tynion and Dyalynas have constructed a story with such a solid foundation, rooted in ever-evolving characters that when the story shifts, the characters shift to meet it. Every issue is a perfect foundation for the very next issue. There’s intrigue, there’s heroism, and there’s growth—and not a single character is left out.

I take great pleasure in checking in with these characters, and with the end of the second book, a new major story arc begins soon. With the changes that have occurred and the story threads set in motion, I am ready to move from what is The Empire Strikes Back of the series into the possible final chapter.
