‘Star Wars Adventures: Beware Vader’s Castle’ – Hardcover Review

What scares you? Sitting around a campfire swapping ghost stories? Monster films? Horror comics? How about sneaking into a supposedly haunted building and having a look around? What do you do if you meet that thing that scares you?

This is the premise of Star Wars Adventures: Beware Vader’s Castle. When Rebels Lina Graf, Crater, and friends find themselves on the infamous lava planet of Mustafar, they enter Darth Vader’s castle (seen in the film Rogue One). As they explore, the reader is treated to spooky stories featuring the Ewoks (Yes, the Ewoks!), Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kanan Jarrus, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, Tarkin, and others. We also get to meet Vader’s creepy servant Vanee. But does the Sith Lord himself make an appearance? You’ll have to read it yourself to find out.

This book, written by Caven Scott and drawn by a host of different illustrators, tells 2 stories: “Tales from Vader’s Castle” and “Return to Vader’s Castle.” Both are absolutely excellent. This is a truly unique package which is part 1940s Universal Monster Movie and part 1970s DC Horror comic.

Final Verdict: 4 out of 4 stars
