Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: The production, House of Me, is currently running at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. For our readers who may be unfamiliar with the show, how would you describe its premise?
Christian Georgescu: MTV meets Grey Gardens in a tongue-twisting romp through the psyche. A show within a show format, House of Me is a kaleidoscopic blend of metaphysics, pop culture, and Mom.
BD: What inspired you to tell this story?
CG: I was inspired by my mother’s strength and spirit in the face of debilitation. While exploring issues of larger identity and social commentary, House of Me is a tribute to my mother.
BD: What do you hope that audiences will take away from the show?
CG: I hope House of Me inspires audiences to search out a larger sense of self while combatting isolation and loneliness with meaningful connection. It’s written in a style that allows for interpretation inviting audiences to find their own meanings. Some have seen House of Me twice even three times, coming away with something different every time.
BD: What makes the Hollywood Fringe Festival the best venue for House of Me?
CG: The theater comes with a built-in staircase and a second floor. SinceHouse of Me is an open house tour format, I get to make all sorts of dramatic entrances and exits. Through Fringe Cabaret and Fringe Runway, I am thrilled to present different aspects of the piece, including character and costume design.
BD: The show will be appearing at the Hollywood Fringe Festival until June 24, 2017. Are there any future plans to perform the show at other venues?
CG: House of Me is being expanded into a larger multimedia stage format, while being developed into a film, audio book, and full-length novel based on excerpts published over the years.
BD: Are there any upcoming projects that you would care to share with our readers?
CG: I will soon begin principle photography on indie short “Opening Night,” as well as costume designs for House of Me Runway.
BD: Lastly, what would you like to tell readers who want to learn more about and purchase tickets for House of Me?
CG: For tickets, reviews and video visit us at www.thehouseofme.com or on the Hollywood Fringe page for House of Me. Come for The Tour! Stay for the Meltdown!
