Series writer (and both Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman aficionado) Andy Mangels continues to take us on a thrill ride as the epic team-up continues.
Some spoilers below.
The nostalgia and fun is just all over the place with this series ,and nothing is wasted. We get Wonder Woman in her aquatic skin suit. I feel that's almost as iconic as her regular costume when it comes to the TV show. We also get a glimpse of Debra Winger's Wonder Girl. That's right, readers. Long before her acclaimed role alongside Shirley MacLaine and Jack Nicholson in Terms of Endearment, the actress portrayed Diana's sister Drusila.
We also get Bionic villain faves The Fembots at long last! I always thought the androids who could assume any identity with a quick face change were super creepy! I even had a Fembot doll! (Man! I bet that thing is worth a pretty penny now.)
And the most epic thing of all? The Bionic Woman flies the Invisible Jet! Come on! It doesn't get much cooler than that. I can't wait to see where Andy takes us next. I'm sure he has plenty more Easter Eggs up his sleeve. It's so nice to see a creator offer up a life-long labor of love while delivering an exciting story that certainly lives up to fan expectation.
Series artist Judit Tandora seems to be hitting her stride and really getting a handle on the characters as she continues to capture the essence of both Lynda Carter and Lindsay Wagner. Glen Hanson offers an exciting variant cover featuring my favorite depiction of this team up so far. (Well, except Bill Sienkiewicz and Phil Jimenez, of course.) Ah, why pick a favorite.
It's easy to see the love and dedication and thoughtfulness that has gone into this series. It continues to be a treat and will be fun to see where it goes. I mean, we haven't seen Cheetah yet, have we?
That's it for this week's Wonder Woman Wednesday! See you next week!
