Wonder Woman Wednesday: May Mayhem!

Merciful Minerva! I can barely believe it’s already May. The steam from the buzz that Wonder Woman stirred up from her debut in BVS doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, as May turns out to be a busy month for the Wonder-verse.

Mother’s Day. The mother/daughter dramedy/tragedy has always been one of the highlights of reading Wonder Woman. Let’s face it – who doesn’t love a good “Mommie Dearest” now and again?

May 9th (1893) marked the birthday of Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston. Sadly, May 2nd (1947) marked the day he passed away. We thank you for giving the world Wonder Woman.

It was announced on May 9th that the Wonder Woman solo film had wrapped! Woo hoo! As the largely agreed upon “best part” of Batman V Superman, this is sure to be the most anticipated movie of 2017.

On May 24th, Lynda Carter will be honored with a lifetime achievement award in the form of a “Gracie” award for her work in the Wonder Woman television series. Lynda is also reportedly being wooed to play the president in the next season of Supergirl. (It’s not Woman, but we’ll take it!)

May also saw the release of Funko Pop’s “Rock Candy” line of 4-inch vinyl figurines based on DC Heroines, including classic Wonder Woman and BVS Wonder Woman (pictured above). I have been dying to add these to my collection. They are super cute with loads of personality and thoughtful attention to detail. The line also includes Supergirl, Harley Quinn, and classic and modern Bargirl. With the year-long countdown nearly here for the release of the Wonder Woman solo film, I think Wonder Woman is going to be on fire for quite some time now.

I guess that’s it for this week’s Wonder Woman Wednesday. See you next week for more Wonder Words of Wisdom (or something like that). As always be sure to check out and Like the “I Am Wonder Fan” page on Facebook.
