Madonna then heated up the fever for her 1st ever live Super Bowl performance/new album endorsement by releasing the video for her latest single, "Give Me All Your Luvvin." She was smart to team up with everyone's favorite support ho, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A. to attract a younger audience and give her some cred. I lamented Madonna's past few videos as borderline boring, filled with nothing but her and her 50-year-old a$$ doing yoga poses in front of a wall. I think I get more excitement from my On Demand fitness channels. This time around, home girl dances in front of a brick wall, but this time she walks up the wall hoisted up by hot football players. Touchdown!
Let's get to Madonna's half time performance. I was so excited and nervous at the same time. I just hoped she realized the gravity of the opportunity in front of her. Duh. She's Madonna. She did everything to remind us why we love her. From "Vogue"-ing troop-style Pharoahs to rocking out with Nicki and LMFAO to a little bit of the gospel with Cee Lo, I'd say it was a success.
As a person not fond of admitting to being susceptible to the human condition, I am embarrassed to admit something. When she started singing "Open Your Heart," I cried. I wept. Tears of Joy. Tears of thrill. Tears of pain. Tears of regret. Tears of sorrow.
Every Queen has his Queen. Some have Cher. Some have Barbra. Some have Britney. (Heaven forfend.) I have Madonna. Always have. Always will. I can pinpoint a point in my life, good or bad, by every Madonna album. Music doesn't just make the bourgeois want to rebel, it also raises your spiritual vibration and makes you want to boogie. Madonna, unlike many others, has always been there for me. Thanks, girlfriend!
I love you, Lady Gaga, but you are not the "new" Madonna. Madonna is always the "new" Madonna. Always.
Michael Troy is a deeply superficial person. Born in the midwest in the '70s, Michael came to Los Angeles to pursue his bi-polar career path as an actor and artist. 2005 saw the release of Michael's first published book, Homo-Hero's Big Book of Fun and Adventure (www.greencandypress.com). Michael has contributed to the Lady Gaga comic book from Bluewater Productions and has his hand in various other upcoming projects. Michael has performed stand-up comedy at all of the major comedy clubs in Los Angeles and is making his triumphant return to the main stage of The Comedy Store in September. Michael offers an off-beat sense of humor as the star of such youtube cult classics As The Gays on Film (www.youtube.com/fullfrontaltv), A Minute With Margot, a loving tribute to Superman legend Margot Kidder (http://www.youtube.com/user/rktcommander), and currently hosts a vlog style series Lethally Blonde over at www.monsterburg.com. Sitting alongside industry heavyweight Phil Jimenez at the "Divas and Lassoes" panel for the 2010 San Diego comic-con, Michael maintains and cherishes his "underground" status. A staunch believer in Blonde Ambition, Michael hopes his new comic about shallow blonde super heroes in Los Angeles, The Blonde Squad, will set the world on fire (or at least brighten it a bit).
